Bay Ridge

Bay Ridge

This magnificent classical shingle-style home provides two well-balanced traditional elevations with a connecting center hall, book-ended with matching custom mahogany doors with divided oval windows. On the waterfront side of the home, the homeowners enjoy a deep heated bluestone porch accented with a copper roof that offers both seating and dining areas. The first floor of this 7,500 SF home provides views to both the Chesapeake Bay and the gardens on the property from an entertaining area that combines the living room, dining room, kitchen, eating nook, and butler’s pantry. Flanking this space, on the opposite side of the grand central hall, is a warm wood paneled office with custom built-ins and a soaring sky lit staircase providing separate private access to the second floor as well as a guest suite. The finished lower level offers a second guest suite, a full exercise studio, a media room, and a stunning wine cellar. Gambrel roofs, swooping capped oval windows, and a curved dormer deliver true custom touches to this waterfront home.

Chesapeake Bay

Chesapeake Bay

This Chesapeake Bay masterpiece is nestled on 12 acres in a serene and bucolic setting with magnificent water views. At 14,000 square feet, this turn-of-the-century home is grand in scale, yet consists of smaller and comfortable living spaces. The home was a major renovation and massive addition, tripling the square footage of the original brick home. It was restored with modern amenities that maintains its scale and nods to the past with its mid-1800’s charm. Truly a veritable work of art—unmatched in its craftsmanship and architectural detailing. A few of its many exceptional living spaces include a formal living room with fireplace and custom built-ins, large open kitchen with island and butler’s pantry, coffered ceiling hallway, one-story faceted sunroom, master bedroom with vaulted ceiling and screened porch below, his and hers master bathrooms, and a screened porch embracing views of the Bay and an amazing pool. This home also features a new front entry porch that completes a courtyard design. Marrying the old architecture with the new to form a seamless design was an essential element in creating this stunning waterfront home.

Chesapeake House

Chesapeake House

The front of this 6,000 SF traditional “center hall” home with Nantucket flair boasts a large rocking porch that is yards away from the Chesapeake Bay. The “informal front” facing the rear yard includes a pool and a guest house that is a micro-version of the main house.

Gambrel roofs, copper accents, flared shingle walls, stone chimneys, and wide linen-colored trim combine on the exterior to create an old world feel. The interior first floor features: walls covered in raised paneling, coffered ceilings with painted beams and beadboard, and antique wide plank knotty oak floors. The scale of the rooms are reminiscent of the turn-of-the-century. The kitchen includes white painted cabinets and marble countertops, and antique hand painted tiles.

The second floor reveals a Bay-facing master suite, along with loads of character found in a windowed cupola, built-ins, and wood-planked sloped ceilings.

Duvall Creek

Duvall Creek

This 10,000 SF, three-story home was designed to ensure that upon opening the door, the waterfront view would be seen. The traditional look and feel of the home is emphasized throughout the interior with raised paneling, millwork, railings and wide wood strip flooring. The backside of the house explodes with the connecting rooms opening up to reveal a 180-degree view of the waterfront.

The first floor of the home provides a casual entertainment area with a connected kitchen, dining, and living room. Outside, a large screened-in, green-blue slate porch leads to a waterside entertainment area. The kitchen connects to a wine cellar and a mudroom. Two staircases lead to the second floor which provides five bedrooms and a laundry area. Extensive organizational strategies were incorporated to support a household of five. Additionally, the house includes a home office and in-law suite above each of the two garages.

Harness Creek

Harness Creek

“Aqua Terra.” There could not be a more fitting name for this spectacular 10,000 SF custom home designed to embrace views of the neighboring vineyard and Harness Creek. This three-story contemporary home incorporates an impressive selection of natural materials.

Form and function converge in the use of expansive glass panels such as a 16-foot fold-away glass wall that joins the kitchen and dining area with a large screened porch. Additional features include a three-story metal and wood floating staircase with glass rail, an interior lap pool visible through a glass wall to the corridor, a glass enclosed wine cellar, and a magnificent glass cube pool house with fire element. Of special interest are the many striking artistic features: a painted glass interior panel from Israel, a 27-foot chandelier from New York, and a custom dining credenza stone top laden with imprints of Goniatities and Orthoceras fossils.

Harness Creek Pool House

Harness Creek Pool House

This incredible detached pool house was inspired by the client’s objective to create a meditation room component to the poolscape. The 12′ X 12′ glass cube with three distinct climate areas is separated from the outdoor covered dining area by a linear gas fire feature — to be viewed from both inside and out.

The structure incorporates materials and overall aesthetic reflective of the main house. Along the back side of the pool house is a spa-like glass-tiled shower and changing room connecting to an outdoor private shower. The stone of this structure transforms into a climbing wall culminating in a waterfall for the pool.
