The oohing and ahhing starts before you enter into this home with a captivating exterior made of full bed stone.  Inspired by the French manor homes of Normandy, this exquisitely understated  9,000 square foot Tred Avon River house is quietly, classically elegant, with an enduring solid stature. While the footprint stretches nearly 128’ along the shoreline of the river, elongating the plan to take advantage of the magnificent views, it is designed to be intentionally restrained and unimposing.  The granite selected for the exterior has a strong presence, while the steeply-hipped rooflines with flared eaves control the scale. These are consistent with the French transitional architectural style of the home as are the rounded dormers and dramatic chimneys. These design elements are the unifying dominant architectural features on both the front and rear facades.  But the waterside elevation includes an abundance of windows allow a profusion of natural light and air into the house yet while capturing incredible views.

Attention has been paid to every detail from the meticulous artisanal stonework, the covered walkway with a mahogany barreled ceiling connecting the house to the three car garage with guest suite above, the custom walnut hardwood floor with parquet pattern in the club room, to a magazine-quality hand forged antiqued brass railing on the curved stair and balcony overlooking the great room with timber trusses and stone fireplace. Each room shows beautifully with rich moldings and detailed millwork. Custom pantry cabinets with a bold color palette serve up incredible contrast and drama in the home’s extended kitchen. A classic chandelier adds style and a candle-like warmth to this space. High ceilings and large windows create a light, spacious feeling carried throughout the home. The well-proportioned master suite with built-in wardrobes, coffered ceiling and spa bath instill sophistication and character. A soothing monochromatic color palette is used throughout the interior to unify the spaces and evoke a quietly elegant ambiance. Unifying design elements are mindfully orchestrated to create cohesion in the open plan.
